Presented by Windmill Grass Theatre and presented by Mastercard: Whispered Musical Theatre of 'Fragments of Solitude', will be held at the Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium from 28 November 2025. The three pillars of the Windmill Grass Theatre: Leung Cho-Yiu, Tong Chun-Yip and Siu Mei-Kwan, will join Yoyo Sham, who will be performing in her first theatrical play, to present a heart-wrenching story that takes place in the city. After the crazy comedy 'Di-Dar' presented by Windmill Grass Theatre during the summer holidays, the new play 'Fragments of Solitude' takes a more sentimental approach. Cho-Yiu Leung, the playwright and one of the lead actors, introduces the play: 'This time, I'm determined to create a purely sentimental story with lots of music. In the play, the characters find it hard to express their feelings in daily life, but music is the best way to convey these unspoken thoughts. Since we need to sing, we invited Yoyo to join us. I think this will be a healing journey, and I hope that through this play, the audience will find the courage and motivation to reflect on the good things in life, to Fragments of Solitude those beautiful moments, and to keep moving forward, even if we don't know what the future holds or if it will get worse. But in this moment, we have the courage to take that step forward.'

In her first theatrical performance, Yoyo plays the role of a stern head nurse. But unknown to many, Yoyo was a member of the debate team during her school days. Cho-Yiu Leung jokingly said, 'I don't think many people in Hong Kong know that you have an iron tongue hidden inside you! I was amazed when I first heard about your debate team experience! But after meeting you a few times, I realized, yes, you are indeed very persuasive and insightful.' Yoyo shared her thoughts on taking on this challenging role in her first theatrical play, 'After being in the debate team in school, I haven't had many opportunities to fully express that side of me. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm also very grateful for the trust you've placed in me, and I trust you all as well. I think this is going to be a lot of fun.'

Before creating 'Fragments of Solitude', Ahdee, the producer, and Cho-Yiu, the playwright, discussed what kind of theatrical play would be needed in today's society. They decided to create a healing play that would help the audience confront their untouchable pains and unhealed wounds. When they thought of a healing voice, Yoyo immediately came to mind as the perfect choice. Why did Yoyo, who has never acted in a play before, agree to perform this time? Yoyo expressed, 'I enjoy watching theatrical plays, and I've taken drama classes in secondary school. The reason I agreed to this play is mainly because of the musical aspect. If it weren't for the singing parts, I might not have had the confidence to take on this challenge. I believe that together, we can create a wonderful performance.'

The team has already started rehearsals, and Ahdee is full of praise for Yoyo's interpretation of her character. 'Cho-Yiu tailored the role specifically for Yoyo, taking into account her unique qualities. When Yoyo started reading the lines, we all felt that she captured the essence of the character, a side of her that people rarely see: a combination of humor, a sharp tongue, and a heartfelt performance.' Cho-Yiu also agreed, saying, 'If it were someone else playing this role, you might find the character annoying, but when Yoyo does it, you won't dislike her.'

To promote the play, Cho-Yiu, Ahdee, Ah-Kwan, and Yoyo recently took part in a special photoshoot for the promotional poster, standing amidst a bed of flowers. Ahdee introduced the concept behind the poster, 'There's a handrail hidden among the flowers, which is meant to evoke the image of a subway car. The entire story of 'Fragments of Solitude' takes place in a transit station, so we designed the poster to give a sense of an abandoned railway.' The cast is dressed in outfits resembling uniforms, and Ah-Kwan even had to wear high heels. Ah-Kwan, who usually prefers a more casual style, has had to wear high heels for performances recently, but she shared, 'Wearing high heels does make my overall silhouette look better. They're probably not trying to test my endurance, they care about me! I'm quite used to it now. I can even play basketball in high heels.'

The Whispered Musical Theatre of 'Fragments of Solitude' tells the story of a busy head nurse whose life flows between the comings and goings of birth and death in the hospital. She has been taking care of a severely injured patient, a convicted criminal, who shares the same blood type as her. This similarity plants a seed of unsettling thoughts in her mind. The story also follows an elderly farming couple who spend their days tilling the soil, sowing seeds, weeding, and fertilizing. One day, an angel informs the wife that her husband is destined to die in an accident. The little joys and beautiful moments in life are often overlooked and not cherished. Time passes faster than we imagine. Doomsday often arrives suddenly and without warning...
